The volume is vast, time is short and you are high on adrenaline already? Don't worry, this post should lighten some of your nerves...
Before answering this question, let me make 3 assumptions straightaway:
1) All your tuition classes are over 2) You have gone through the entire syllabus of all the subjects at least once 3) You have made short notes or markings while studying
If the first two of the above 3 assumptions hold true, follow the routine below:
1) Make a study schedule – customized and which you must religiously follow everyday. Take care to ensure adequate small breaks in between, with no space for wastage of time or social media.
2) The best way to start with is to pick any two subjects – ideally one theory and one practical - and to study both of them in a day. Personally, I would advise to study the theory subject during that period of the day when you achieve the best concentration levels - early morning or late night as the case may be.
3) Allot 3-4 days for those 2 subjects and then proceed to the next set of 2 subjects. With this strategy, you can easily finish off revising all the subjects once in 30 days.
4) The best way to revise theory subjects is through self-prepared short notes or markings. When you have already gone through the entire syllabus in detail, it is useless to go through the entire volume once again.
5) If you are not in the habit of preparing short notes while studying, don’t worry. Switch over to charts and mind maps of each subject – which are now available for FREE from the ICAI website. (If you want the charts or mind maps of any subject from the eminent coaches, please get in touch with me and I shall be happy to share them if I have them from my own CA Final attempt)
6) Make sure to cover all the amendments applicable for your term. Past trends would tell you that all major amendments are tested in the exams.
7) Once you have completed your first revision, it is time that you start solving papers in exam conditions. This is the time to make judicious use of the Mock Test Papers, Revision Test Papers and Past Papers hosted by the ICAI on its website.
8) Analyse your performance in these mock exams and identify areas which need to be revisited again. If required, start another round of revision of all the subjects, but this time, on a fast-forward mode. Put more focus on the weaker areas and the more important chapters.
9) Keep the last 2-3 days for FR (the first paper).
Lastly, do not miss out on the time that you get as study leave and try to make full use of it. Also, ensure proper physical and mental health during these strenuous 2 months so that you are at complete ease while attempting the first question of the first paper of CA Final. Best of luck !!
